Bank of Maldives (BML) has celebrated the achievements of its employees who have successfully graduated from the renowned Leadership and People Management Program of the Singapore Management University (SMU), marking a major milestone in the Bank’s ongoing investment in human capital development.
A total of
twenty BML employees earned the Executive Certificate in Leadership and People
Management from SMU, following their completion of an intensive and interactive
program designed to enhance leadership capabilities in dynamic corporate
environments. The program featured a rigorous curriculum combining
discussion-driven teaching, experiential learning, and case-based exercises
that allowed participants to immediately apply leadership principles within
real-world banking operations.
In addition to the executive-level graduates, another twenty employees received the Certificate in Leadership and People Management through the BML Academy, after completing a certificate-level program also offered in collaboration with SMU.
Highlighting the
strategic significance of the initiative, Mohamed Shareef, CEO and Managing
Director of Bank of Maldives, stated, “This investment is a direct reflection
of our strong belief in human capital as our key strategic asset. The
partnership with SMU is fundamental to building the future leadership bench
strength required to navigate evolving market dynamics. Our sustained success
is a function of developing exemplary leadership at every tier of the
organization.”
As the dedicated
training and development arm of the Bank, the BML Academy plays a central role
in driving the institution’s growth by providing continuous learning
opportunities, specialized training, and international exposure for its staff.
Through such initiatives, BML continues to strengthen its position as one of
the country’s leading employers, recognized for its commitment to staff
development.
The Bank’s
dedication to nurturing local talent and creating pathways for professional
advancement has earned it several accolades, including the “Asia’s Best
Employer Brand Award” from the World HRD Congress and the Employer Branding
Institute — reinforcing BML’s reputation as a model employer in the Maldivian
financial sector.
