STELCO Graduates First All-Women Electrician Training Batch

Sixteen women have successfully completed STELCO’s inaugural Beginners' Electrician Course for Women, marking a significant step toward increasing female participation in the traditionally male-dominated field of electrical work. The three-day training program concluded last Thursday.

Organized by the State Electric Company (STELCO), the training aimed to raise awareness and foster interest among women in the electrical industry. According to STELCO, the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to promoting gender inclusivity and empowering women through technical education.

The course, designed for beginners, featured sessions on electrical safety, cost-efficient electricity usage, and basic electrical wiring. STELCO reported an overwhelming response to the program, with 350 applicants expressing interest when it was first announced.

This first batch of 16 participants marks the beginning of what STELCO hopes will be a long-term effort to train and inspire more women in the field. Company officials have indicated plans to continue and expand such initiatives in the future, recognizing the vital role women can play in technical and engineering sectors.
