MAHRP Brings Future Leadership into Focus with Professor Hassan Ugail

The Maldives Association of Human Resource Professionals (MAHRP) will host the next edition of its HR Knowledge Share series with a special Fireside Conversation titled “In Conversation with Professor Hassan Ugail” on Sunday, 1st February 2026, from 8:30 PM to 9:45 PM at the MNU Business School Auditorium.

The HR Knowledge Share series is a professional platform conducted on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis, bringing together people leaders and People & Culture professionals to engage in meaningful learning and dialogue. These sessions are offered free of charge and aim to promote knowledge sharing, professional development, and discussions on key issues related to human capital development and organizational effectiveness.

This special session will feature Professor Hassan Ugail, one of the region’s leading voices in leadership and future thinking. The fireside conversation will explore critical topics, including the future of leadership, the future of work, emerging skills for tomorrow’s workforce, and how organizations and individuals can prepare for the next 10 to 20 years of change.

The discussion is expected to provide valuable insights into how technology, human potential, and leadership mindsets are shaping the evolving workplace, along with practical reflections for professionals across industries.

Ugail is a mathematician and computer scientist, and the first Maldivian to achieve a PhD in Mathematics. He is also the first and only Maldivian to date to receive a professorship in science, which he attained at the age of 38. Professor Ugail currently works at the University of Bradford, UK, as a Professor of Visual Computing and serves as the Director of the Centre for Visual Computing. He is among the youngest professors at the University.

Professor Ugail’s principal research interests are in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence. He is particularly well known for his work on computer-based human face analysis, including face recognition, face ageing, emotion analysis, and lie detection.

The event is open to both MAHRP members and non-members. Prior registration is mandatory for participation.
