The Maldives has been crowned the Best Island in the Indian Ocean at the Condé Nast Traveller 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards, reaffirming its standing as one of the world’s most sought-after tropical destinations. Announced on 7 October 2025, the recognition came through votes cast by the magazine’s global readership, reflecting the Maldives’ enduring allure among international travellers.
With an
exceptional score of 97.50, the Maldives outshone other celebrated island
nations including Madagascar, Zanzibar, and the Lamu Archipelago in Kenya. The
award reinforces the archipelago’s reputation as a premier destination renowned
for luxury, exclusivity, and natural splendor.
Condé Nast
Traveller lauded the Maldives as a “winter-sun showstopper,” celebrated
for its powdery white beaches, turquoise lagoons, and year-round sunshine. The
publication highlighted that each Maldivian resort delivers a distinct
experience, blending luxury and authenticity in an intimate island setting that
continues to captivate visitors from around the globe.
Among the
standout resorts mentioned were Constance Halaveli and Constance Moofushi,
recognized for their remarkable hospitality and immersive guest experiences.
Constance Halaveli was praised for its elegant fusion of indulgence and
relaxation, featuring world-class wellness facilities and family-friendly
offerings. Meanwhile, Constance Moofushi impressed readers with its lively
atmosphere, attentive service, and all-inclusive luxury that caters to both
adventure and serenity seekers.
This prestigious
recognition underscores the Maldives’ unwavering commitment to excellence in
tourism and hospitality. Beyond its breathtaking beauty, the country continues
to lead by example in sustainable tourism practices, integrating environmental
preservation with high-end travel experiences.
By harmonizing luxury,
culture, and conservation, the Maldives has once again proven its global
appeal—standing not only as the Indian Ocean’s finest island destination but
also as a symbol of responsible and exceptional travel.
