Trans Maldivian
Airways (TMA), the world’s largest seaplane operator, has once again solidified
its position as a leader in global aviation, securing two major accolades at
the 31st Annual World Travel Awards 2024. The awards ceremony, held in Portugal
on November 24, saw TMA crowned as the World’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2024
and the Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2024, marking the airline’s
10th consecutive win in the regional category.
Since its launch
in 1993, TMA has revolutionized air travel in the Maldives by offering seamless
connections to over 80 world-class resorts across 16 atolls. With a fleet of 65
DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft, including 13 resort-branded planes and 2 VIP-configured
models, the airline operates more than 400 daily flights, playing a vital role
in the Maldives' success as the World’s Leading Destination.
Reflecting on
the milestone, TMA CEO A.U.M Fawzy expressed gratitude and pride in the
airline’s decade-long streak of excellence. “Receiving these prestigious awards
for ten consecutive years is a profound honor for TMA. It underscores our
unwavering commitment to innovation and operational excellence. We strive to
deliver a travel experience that exceeds expectations, partnering with the
industry to shape the future of luxury connectivity in this island paradise,”
he said.
In addition to
the World Travel Awards triumph, 2024 has been a banner year for TMA. The
airline was recognized as the Leading Tourist Transport Provider (Air) at the
South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) and earned the Best Luxury Seaplane Lounge
title for its Infinity Lounge at the Seven Stars Luxury Hospitality and
Lifestyle Awards.
