Velana International Airport’s new passenger terminal, Terminal 1, has officially begun providing services for Air France, marking another milestone in the airport’s expanding international operations.
The commencement
of Air France services from Terminal 1 was commemorated with a special ceremony
held at the terminal today, attended by senior officials from Maldives Airports
Company Limited (MACL). The event was also graced by Mr. Ahmed Maumoon, Deputy
CEO and Accountable Manager of Manta Aviation, alongside other invited guests.
As part of the
launch, Air France’s dedicated check-in counters at Terminal 1 were officially
inaugurated. Passengers departing on the airline were presented with gifts,
while arrivals on the inaugural Air France flight to operate from Terminal 1,
AF268, received a warm welcome featuring traditional Maldivian cultural
performances.
Air France holds
the distinction of being the first French airline to operate from Terminal 1.
The carrier initially launched its services to the Maldives on November 2,
2017, and continues to play a key role in connecting the country with European
markets.
With the
addition of Air France, Terminal 1 is now serving a total of 34 airlines. MACL
has reiterated that the new terminal is designed to deliver comprehensive,
high-quality services, supporting airlines while enhancing the overall travel
experience for passengers arriving in and departing from the Maldives.
