Bank of Maldives (BML) has expanded its nationwide banking network by introducing ATM services in Th. Gaadhiffushi, completing coverage across all inhabited islands of Thaa Atoll under the bank’s “BML ATM Nationwide” project.
The service was
inaugurated at a ceremony held today on Gaadhiffushi, attended by President Dr.
Mohamed Muizzu, cabinet ministers, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO and
Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, and other senior officials.
Speaking at the
ceremony, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef highlighted the
significance of the milestone. “With the establishment of ATM services in all
inhabited islands of Thaa Atoll, we have now implemented ATM services in 15
atolls under the ‘BML ATM Nationwide’ project. In an island nation like the
Maldives, ATMs are a crucial tool for including citizens in the banking system.
In addition to establishing ATMs, we are undertaking significant efforts to
further expand digital banking services,” he said.
BML noted that
the project is part of a broader strategy to enhance accessibility and
financial inclusion across the country. The bank currently operates 42 branches
in 20 atolls, 179 Self-Service Banking Centers, 237 ATMs, along with advanced
online banking services.
The expansion of
services in Thaa Atoll reinforces BML’s role as the largest banking network in
the country, aiming to support individuals, businesses, and communities across
the Maldives.
