The Maldives
Zakat House, under the Islamic Ministry, is hosting the International Zakat
Conference (INZAC 2024) on November 28, 2024, at the Islamic Centre Conference
Hall. The event aims to strengthen the Zakat system in the Maldives, enhance
its benefits for beneficiaries, and develop the Zakat Fund as a tool for
sustainable development.
The conference
will feature four panel discussions, each focusing on a critical aspect of
Zakat administration. Topics include maximizing social impact through Zakat,
its role in sustainable development, strengthening legal and regulatory
frameworks, and leveraging technology for efficient Zakat governance in the
digital age.
Renowned
experts, including Dr. Magda Ismail Abdel Mohsin, Associate Professor at
INCEIF, Malaysia, and Dato' Syeikh Zakaria Bin Othman, Chief Executive Officer
of Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah, Malaysia, will deliver keynote addresses. Their
insights are expected to provide valuable perspectives on modernizing Zakat
systems and aligning them with global best practices.
MHA has come on
board as a Silver Sponsor for the event, with Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB)
supporting as a Bronze Sponsor.
The Maldives
Zakat House plays a vital role in centralizing Zakat collection and
distribution, ensuring compliance with Islamic principles and promoting social
welfare. INZAC 2024 seeks to pave the way for innovative approaches to Zakat
administration, making it a more effective tool for addressing poverty and
fostering long-term community development.
