Maldivian youth
have until end of September to register for the MMA Tamweel FinLit Challenge, a
nationwide quiz competition organized by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA)
that offer cash prizes of up to MVR 10,000. Open to participants aged 16 to 25,
the challenge is designed to strengthen financial literacy and understanding of
Islamic finance while providing a competitive and engaging learning
environment.
The
league-style competition will feature six online rounds, where teams of three
to five members can accumulate points on a leaderboard. The top five scoring
teams will then advance to a live, in-person final round to compete for the
coveted cash prizes. Questions will cover a wide range of topics including
personal finance, budgeting, safe use of digital solutions, credit and debt,
and Islamic finance principles. Both multiple-choice and true/false
scenario-based questions will be included to simulate real-world financial
decision-making.
To participate,
teams must submit their completed application forms by 11:59 PM Maldivian time
tomorrow. Each team is required to nominate a leader to coordinate answers and
act as the main point of contact during the competition. The MMA will manage
the online platform for the league rounds and provide technical support if
needed.
The prize
structure is designed to reward excellence: the champion team will receive MVR
10,000, the second-place team MVR 7,000, and the third-place team MVR 5,000.

With the
deadline fast approaching, the MMA encourages all eligible youth to register
promptly and take part in an initiative that combines learning, competition,
and valuable rewards. Teams experiencing issues with the application form can
contact the MMA via [email protected].
