From November 17
to 19, 2024, JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa will host an exclusive
three-day culinary experience, spotlighting the award-winning Chef Kelvin
Cheung from Dubai. Renowned for his innovative third-culture cuisine, Chef
Kelvin will showcase a fusion of global flavors with a focus on sustainability
and local ingredients, amidst the stunning backdrop of the Maldives.
The JW Marriott
Maldives Resort & Spa, known for its exceptional culinary offerings, has
partnered with Chef Cheung to provide guests with a series of curated dining
experiences that align with the resort’s eco-conscious gastronomy vision. Chef
Cheung, the celebrated mastermind behind Dubai’s Jun’s restaurant, brings with
him a reputation of culinary excellence, having earned recognition in the
Michelin Guide Dubai, MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants, and the prestigious title of
What’s On Dubai’s 2024 Chef of the Year. His approach, blending Indian, Thai,
and Chinese flavors, reflects his third-culture heritage and is complemented by
his strong emphasis on sustainability.
The culinary
event will begin on November 17 with a five-course dinner at Kaashi, the
resort’s treetop restaurant. Dishes such as Pani Puri, Tom Yum, and Char Siu
Wagyu Short Rib will elevate traditional flavors into a unique fusion of global
cuisine. The following evening, guests will experience another five-course menu
at the overwater Hashi/Shio, where Chef Kelvin’s inventive style will bring
flavors to life in ground-breaking ways.
On the final
day, Chef Cheung will host a zero-waste cooking class at Aailaa, JW Marriott’s
all-day dining venue. Guests will learn how to craft flavorful dishes using
fresh ingredients from the resort’s JW Garden while minimizing waste.
“We are excited to welcome Chef Kelvin, whose philosophy of blending diverse culinary traditions while promoting sustainability aligns perfectly with our mission,” says Mohit Dembla, General Manager of JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa.
Located on
Vagaru Island, Shaviyani Atoll, the resort offers a luxurious, eco-friendly
experience with 60 beach and overwater villas, world-class dining, and a
commitment to sustainability. Chef Kelvin’s collaboration promises an
unforgettable culinary celebration of wellness and innovation amidst the
natural beauty of the Maldives.
