Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the launch of new Self-Service Banking ATM centres in Kondey and Kanduhulhudhoo, making Gaafu Alif Atoll the 10th atoll in the country where every inhabited island has access to ATM services.
The inauguration
ceremony, held today, was attended by Minister of Construction, Housing and
Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO
and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, along with senior officials of the bank.
The new ATM
centres will provide round-the-clock access to essential banking services such
as cash withdrawals, deposits, and transfers for both individuals and
businesses. BML said this expansion is part of its nationwide initiative “Mulhi
Raajje ah BML ATM,” designed to ensure reliable and convenient banking services
are available in all local communities.
Speaking at the
ceremony, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the investment
underlines the bank’s strong commitment to financial inclusion. “Our investment
in these new ATM centers reflects our unwavering commitment to bringing banking
closer to our customers. The people of Gaafu Alifu Atoll will no longer have to
travel to another island for their banking,” he stated.
As the country’s
largest financial institution, BML currently operates 42 branches across all 20
atolls, 158 Self-Service Banking Centres, 217 ATMs, in addition to agent
banking services and digital banking solutions.
