Bank of Maldives (BML) has officially opened a new branch in Kudahuvadhoo, reinforcing its commitment to improving banking access and supporting economic development across the atolls.
The inauguration ceremony was held today on the island and was attended by Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer, along with BML’s CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef and senior bank officials.
The newly constructed facility replaces the former Kudahuvadhoo branch and is designed to better meet the growing banking needs of residents and nearby islands. The upgraded premises aim to provide greater convenience and faster services to customers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mohamed Shareef said the new branch reflects the bank’s ongoing investment in regional infrastructure and modern banking services. He noted that the facility operates as a paperless branch, with services delivered digitally to enhance efficiency and customer convenience.
“This facility will strengthen our ability to serve individuals, families, and businesses in the region,” he said.
BML also announced plans to expand its physical presence further by establishing 12 new branches across the country this year, as part of its strategy to ensure accessible banking services nationwide.
As the country’s leading financial institution, Bank of Maldives currently operates 42 branches across all 20 atolls, along with 267 ATMs and advanced digital banking platforms. The bank continues to focus on supporting communities through innovation and expanded access to financial services.
