Stelco’s
Managing Director Hussain Fahmy has praised the resilience and determination of
the company's employees, describing their ability to overcome adversity as a
defining trait of the organisation. His remarks came during the official
inauguration of the Stelco Inhouse Trainers Pool, held at the company
headquarters.
Speaking at the
event, Fahmy highlighted that despite frequent obstacles—including power
outages, technical failures, natural disasters, and financial
limitations—Stelco employees consistently rise to the occasion. “Our employees
have a special characteristic of overcoming challenges,” he said. “Whether it’s
an engine failure, a water disaster, a national economic downturn or a
constrained budget, our team delivers.”
The new training
initiative, launched as part of Stelco’s effort to boost internal capacity, has
already certified 35 employees as licensed Stelco trainers. According to Fahmy,
the move demonstrates the company's commitment to internal growth, even as the
government enforces cost-cutting measures across state-owned enterprises.
“The
government’s budget constraints will not stop the work of Stelco employees,” he
affirmed. “We have decided to start this programme in-house and provide better
training to our staff. Even if the budget doesn’t allow, we will move forward.
This is how we respond to challenges—by doing more, and doing it better.”
Fahmy extended
his gratitude to the Stelco management and staff for taking what he called a
bold and strategic step to enhance the company’s human resources. “Experience
has taught us that our strength lies in how we overcome adversity. And I am
proud to say that Stelco has the capacity to take on any challenge,” he added.
The Stelco
Inhouse Trainers Pool is expected to play a critical role in strengthening the
company’s workforce by equipping employees with advanced training,
knowledge-sharing, and leadership skills. The initiative reflects Stelco’s
broader vision of ensuring uninterrupted national utility services through
staff empowerment and innovation, even under fiscal pressure.
