Bank of Maldives has introduced the Visa Infinite credit
card to the local market, becoming the first Maldivian bank to offer Visa’s
most prestigious card tier. The launch also marks another first for the
country, as Visa Infinite is the first metal card ever issued in the Maldives.
The introduction comes at a time when the number of
high-earning customers in the Maldives is growing. More Maldivians are
traveling frequently, spending internationally and seeking services that offer
higher convenience and recognition abroad. Visa Infinite is designed for this
segment, providing a range of exclusive privileges that cover travel,
lifestyle, entertainment and digital services.
Visa Infinite cardholders get benefits such as VIP treatment
at luxury hotels, airport fast-track services, Meet and Assist arrangements and
access to more than 2,000 premium lounges worldwide. The card also offers
access to chef’s table dining events, priority reservations at top restaurants,
invitations to concerts and art shows, complimentary golf rounds, spa benefits
and select club memberships. Digital perks include premium subscriptions for
entertainment, food delivery and a slate of advanced apps.
BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the
launch reflects the bank’s focus on bringing high-end, global-standard
financial products to local customers. He noted that the Visa Infinite card is
built for people who want convenience, recognition and exclusive experiences
when traveling or spending internationally.
Visa’s Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives, Avanthi
Colombage, described the launch as a significant moment for the local payments
landscape. She said the card brings global privileges and tailored experiences
to a growing Maldivian demographic that values premium services. Colombage also
highlighted that the metal card sets a new benchmark for luxury card offerings
in the Maldives.
Visa Infinite is widely regarded as Visa’s highest consumer
credit card tier globally. In international markets, Infinite cards typically
come with stronger insurance coverage, better foreign transaction protections,
and higher spending limits. The Maldives has seen a steady increase in overseas
spending and card-based payments over the past years, which financial
institutions attribute to more global travel and the overall rise in digital
payment adoption. With the launch of Visa Infinite, BML aims to cater directly
to that changing demand.
