Airports Company Limited (MACL) and the Ministry of Higher Education,
Employment and Social Security have joined forces to enhance training and
employment opportunities for Maldivian youth. The two organizations signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at a
ceremony held at the ministry.
The signing
ceremony took place at the Ministry of Higher Education, Employment and Social
Security. On behalf of MACL, the agreement was signed by the company's CEO and
Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed. The Minister of Higher Education,
Employment and Social Security, Dr. Mariyam Mariya, signed on behalf of the
ministry. Senior officials from MACL, the ministry, Maldives Water and Sewerage
Company, Villa Resorts, and Universal Resorts attended the ceremony.
Highlighting the
significance of the MoU, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed emphasized MACL's growing
demand for skilled professionals in various fields. Training individuals
for these specialized roles is vital, and today's agreement will streamline
efforts to recruit skilled talent for our company. We are optimistic about the
success of this national initiative, he stated.
Minister Dr.
Mariyam Mariya underscored the importance of equipping the youth with skills to
meet workforce demands, aligning with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vision.
“Academic qualifications paired with hands-on work experience are key to
developing a robust workforce,” she remarked.
MACL has
actively promoted career opportunities at Velana International Airport
throughout the year, including hosting the MACL Career 2024 fairs
for school students and participating in the Dhaalaan Career Expo
organized by the ministry.
