The State Trading Organization (STO) and Hitachi marked a major milestone last night as the two companies celebrated 25 years of strategic partnership, highlighting a collaboration that has significantly shaped the Maldivian consumer electronics landscape. The anniversary ceremony, held at Baros Nasandhura, brought together top executives from both sides to honour the longstanding relationship and its impact on the market.
The event was
graced by the Managing Director of Hitachi, senior representatives from the
company, STO Chairman Aamir Mansoor, STO Managing Director Shimad Ibrahim,
board members, and several former senior STO officials who played pivotal roles
in nurturing the partnership over the years.
Addressing the
gathering, STO MD Shimad Ibrahim reflected on the depth of the partnership,
noting that the relationship between STO and Hitachi has been built on trust,
shared values, and a mutual commitment to quality. He emphasised that Hitachi’s
products have transformed the experience of Maldivian consumers, bringing
convenience, reliability, and modern innovation into homes across the country.
Shimad added that Hitachi’s century-long legacy in global markets has
translated into exceptional popularity in the Maldives since STO began
distributing its products.
Hitachi air
conditioners and refrigerators remain among the most sought-after appliances in
the local market, cementing the brand’s reputation for durability and
performance. At the ceremony, a dedicated product showcase highlighted some of
the top-selling Hitachi appliances available in the Maldives, demonstrating the
breadth of the brand’s offerings.
In recognition
of loyal customers, four individuals who had purchased the highest number of
Hitachi products were awarded during the event. STO and Hitachi representatives
presented the awards as a gesture of appreciation and to acknowledge the role
of consumers in sustaining the partnership’s success.
A key highlight
of the evening was the official launch of Hitachi’s newly introduced “Hitachi
New Air” range, unveiled for the first time in the Maldives. The new lineup
underscores Hitachi’s commitment to introducing energy-efficient, user-friendly
technologies tailored to evolving consumer needs.
The ceremony
concluded with both companies reaffirming their dedication to strengthening the
partnership and continuing to deliver high-quality, trusted products to the
Maldivian market.
