Special training camps under the banner of “Vunari Business Camp” were held across the Maldives today, August 16, to mark International Youth Day. Organized by the Business Center Corporation (BCC), the initiative aimed to equip young entrepreneurs with practical skills in business management, product development, and marketing, while fostering an engaging learning environment.
The camps were
simultaneously conducted in 12 regions through BCC’s Regional Business Centers,
bringing together youth engaged in business, aspiring entrepreneurs, women’s
development committees, island councils, and experienced community members.
Sessions focused on brainstorming business ideas, creating commercial products,
learning effective advertising strategies, and developing sales techniques
through discussions and collaborative activities.
Unlike previous
years’ information sessions, this year’s program was designed with a fresh
approach. Many camps were held along the beachside, blending learning with
recreational activities and sports. Organizers said the goal was to highlight
the Maldives’ rich natural environment while making business training more
dynamic and appealing to youth.
Participants
welcomed the new format, noting that it helped make the sessions more engaging
and practical. The feedback, according to BCC, underscores the importance of
organizing entrepreneurial development activities in settings that resonate
with young people.
The Vunari
Business Camp forms part of BCC’s wider efforts to boost the contribution of
small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to the national economy. The corporation
continues to offer technical advice, training, and support to Maldivians eager
to strengthen their role in the business sector.
