The SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC) has named Fathimath Farihath Waheed as its new Operations Director, strengthening the company’s leadership team with an experienced figure from the financial sector.
In her new role,
Farihath will oversee SDFC’s core operational departments, including
Administration, Procurement, Human Resources, Marketing, Business Development,
and Information Systems. The company said her appointment is aimed at driving
operational excellence and expanding support for small and medium-sized
enterprises across the Maldives.
Farihath joins
SDFC following a 19-year career in banking and financial services, most
recently serving at the Bank of Maldives (BML) as Head of Card Networks and
Strategic Partnerships. She previously held senior roles at BML, including Head
of Card Payments and Governance and Head of Strategy and Change, where she
played a pivotal role in advancing the bank’s strategic initiatives.
“We are
delighted to welcome Fathimath Farihath to our leadership team,” said SDFC
Managing Director Badhurudheen Hassan. “Her profound expertise in financial
services, strategic change management, and building key partnerships will be
invaluable as we continue to enhance our operations and expand our support to
the SME sector.”
Farihath holds a
Master of International Business from Monash University Malaysia and is a
Chartered Banker, a professional qualification earned from the Asian Institute
of Chartered Bankers.
