Bank of Maldives (BML) has expanded its nationwide ATM network by establishing self-service facilities in all inhabited islands of Vaavu Atoll, following the inauguration of a new ATM service in V. Rakeedhoo today.
The opening
ceremony in Rakeedhoo was attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, cabinet
ministers, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, and the bank’s CEO and Managing
Director Mohamed Shareef, along with other senior officials.
Speaking at the
event, Shareef highlighted the milestone achieved under the “BML ATM for the
Entire Maldives” project. “With this launch, we have now established ATM
services in all inhabited islands of 12 atolls. Each of these ATMs enhances
financial inclusion for the community and opens a door to easy access to basic
banking services,” he said.
As part of the
same project, BML is also set to inaugurate ATM services in F. Feeali and
Bilehfahi later today.
The state-owned
lender, which already operates the most extensive financial network in the
country, continues to expand access to modern banking services. Its network
currently includes 42 branches across 20 atolls, 166 self-service banking
centers, 225 ATMs, and advanced online banking platforms designed to serve
individuals, businesses, and communities nationwide.
