Bank of Maldives Expands Network with New Branch in Sh. Kanditheemu

Bank of Maldives (BML) has commenced construction of a new branch in Sh. Kanditheemu, marking another milestone in the Bank’s ongoing efforts to expand access to banking services across the nation. The groundbreaking ceremony was held today and attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Cabinet Ministers, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, along with senior officials of the Bank.

The new branch is part of BML’s continued investment to enhance financial inclusion and bring modern banking facilities closer to communities in the atolls. Speaking at the ceremony, BML officials highlighted that the Kanditheemu branch will offer the full range of personal and business banking services upon completion.

BML currently operates a branch in Sh. Funadhoo and provides self-service ATM facilities on all inhabited islands within Shaviyani Atoll. With this new addition, the Bank aims to strengthen its service reach and support local economic activity in the region.

As the country’s leading financial institution, Bank of Maldives maintains a nationwide presence with 42 branches across all 20 atolls, 193 Self-Service Banking Centres, 251 ATMs, as well as extensive Agent Banking services and advanced digital banking solutions. The establishment of the Kanditheemu branch further reinforces BML’s commitment to serving individuals and businesses throughout the Maldives.
