The Maldives
Stock Exchange (MSE) marked its 17th anniversary with a groundbreaking
development, the official launch of its first online automated trading system
for listed securities.
The new system
enables registered companies to process investor orders live, providing instant
order transmission to the trading board through a broker back-office web
application called the Order Management System (OMS). This
automation enhances efficiency and ensures real-time trade matching,
revolutionizing the securities trading process in the Maldives.
In conjunction
with this launch, the Maldives Securities Depository Company (MSD) introduced
Trade Connect on its infinity.mv website. This feature allows
Infinity account holders to select brokers and trade securities seamlessly.
Investors can log in, access the Trade Connect tab, and submit
trade requests directly to brokers, who process these transactions in real
time.
The system
underwent beta testing with limited users since June and received regulatory
approval from the Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) before its
official rollout.
MSE emphasized
that the automated trading system is designed to make securities trading more
accessible and efficient for investors. With features like real-time market
data, price updates, and order book access, the platform promotes transparency
and supports informed investment decisions.
Additionally,
the system integrates advanced technology, including APIs, enabling brokers to
expand their service applications and ensuring scalability for future
innovations in the market.
The launch of
this automated system marks a milestone in the development of the Maldivian
capital market, signaling a new era of efficiency and accessibility for
investors and brokers alike.
