The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, will celebrate Maldives National Day with a cultural evening that showcases the nation’s heritage, creativity, and pride, headlined by an exclusive art exhibition from in-house artist Shimha Shakeeb. The event will take place on August 24 at the resort’s Beach Shack restaurant.
As part of the
celebration, Shimha will unveil a new collection of 40 hand-painted watercolor
illustrations capturing the beauty of the Maldives’ marine biodiversity. The
artworks, featuring a range of local fish species, will also be transformed
into a bespoke “Fish Card” designed to help guests identify species while
exploring the surrounding lagoon and reef.
Guests will have
the chance to meet Shimha during the exhibition, engage in conversations about
her work, and watch live painting demonstrations. The setting at Beach Shack,
the resort’s oceanfront sunset restaurant, will offer a relaxed atmosphere to
experience her artistry against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean.
The evening will
also feature a vibrant Maldivian Night celebration, complete with traditional
music, locally inspired cuisine, and a curated market of island artisans and
vendors. The resort aims to create an immersive cultural gathering that allows
guests to connect with the authentic spirit of the Maldives.
Through the
partnership with Shimha, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, reaffirms its
commitment to empowering local female artists and preserving Maldivian
heritage. The resort said the initiative reflects its broader mission of
uplifting creative talent and strengthening meaningful connections through art
and culture.
